A valuable BUT hard truth business taught me...
I grew 4 successful businesses in my life!
The first one is a web development agency I started in high-school.
The second one is an ads agency, that was the evolution of my 1st one.
The third one was a bigger hitter, I started this one after the army! Building sales systems and client acquisition channels for online service providers.
My biggest client was doing $5.6M a month.
The last one was my SODA training program.
It was a wild journey, with ups and downs but if there’s one thing I learnt for sure is THIS…
Building a business is a “terrible” way to make money fast.
From the outside it seems attractive and appealing:
-Financial & location freedom
-Work on your own terms
-Be your own boss
etc
From the inside is more like:
-When you’re awake, you’re working
-Tremendous amount of responsibility & stress
-Your clients are your boss in most cases
I’m not downplaying owning your own business, but it’s certainly NOT for everyone AND certainly NOT for a complete beginner, who:
“Just wants to make some money online”
If that’s all you want, if you’re a teenager, or you have a 9-5 job and you want to make an extra $3,000 - $15,000 a month then a business is not the way to do it. At least for starters…
Why?
For all the different reasons I listed above but also, there’s one major part that people forget.
A business requires it’s leader to have a wide array of skillsets:
-Lead generation
-Content creation
-Offer building
-Client acquisition & marketing
-Running ads
-Brand building
-Sales
-Product building
-Customer fulfilment
These are just to name a few….
And they’re ALL necessary for you to make even a single dollar.
“So Yiannis, what’s the alternative?”
Simple.
Pick one skill - Sales.
Learn that. Master it!
Work as a sales person under a company remotely and get paid 10% - 15% commissions on every high-ticket sale you make.
You can make the same $3,000 - $15,000 a month, much faster, with much less work and responsibility.
At the same time, you stuck cash, you expand your network, you see the inner working of how a successful company operates.
1,2,3 - 5 years down the line, you go do the same. Now it’s a much smarter time to start your business - this is the soundest strategy, I just wished I knew it earlier!
