5 Sales Call Hacks To Sign Your First AI Client For $5K+
I’ve done thousands of sales calls over the past few years and I want to share with you some of the lessons I learnt the hard way so you can hopefully avoid falling into the same pitfalls as me…
#1 - Your First 100 Sales Calls Will Probably Suck
This isn’t to say that you won’t close a single one of your first 100 calls however, like anything, there’s a learning curve to it.
As a beginner, there’s an “ignorance penalty” you will have to pay. Don’t get discouraged, just take it as an opportunity to learn.
#2 - The 80/20 Rule
People buy when they feel understood, NOT when they understand you. And no one will feel understood if you’re the one doing all the talking.
A good rule of thumb that always serves me well is to do 20% of the talking and have the prospect do 80% of the talking.
Everyone loves someone who let’s them talk. A common misconception is that sales are about talking. No, sales are about listening!
#3 - “Hard” Marketing Leads To Easy Sales
The better job you do in warming up your leads before they get on a call, the easier your calls will be.
The reason anyone buys is trust. That’s why leads that come from cold outreach are hard to close. Trust is absent.
Along with your cold outreach campaigns, you better find a way to set up your own garden - meaning a source of inbound leads.
That can be a YouTube channel, a Facebook group, a linkedin group - anything that can have people attracted to you so you don’t always need to chase them.
#4 - Ask The Right Questions
So tell me John, what made you get on this call today?
What problem are you trying to solve with this?
Why is that a problem?
How long has it been a problem?
Have you tried solving it before?
What do you think NOT solving it is costing you?
Solutions to big, expensive and urgent problems is how you justify your pricing.
#5 - Use The Power Of Stories
You can always reference clients and how you helped them solve their similar problem.
If you don’t have such case studies, just mention random companies and how they solved that problem with a similar AI solution.
Of course it’s better to use your own case studies but trust me, this still works.
